Purpose

When I first had the idea for this blog and I had the layout all made up, I had a specific and almost scientific plan for talking and analyzing the music that I like, but the more I think about it I'm not sure I can live up to that goal. I feel like the range of music that I listen, while I consider it all "progressive" ( and it is inevitable that I will have a post about how I feel about certain music labels), it varies in style, form, and what elements exactly make it progressive or a story. And that is at my core belief of music, that the purpose of every song is to tell a story and that the artist writing the song is trying desperately to make you connect with the story. So, I finally decided that instead of dissecting the music I love to the point that it becomes un-enjoyable, I will just talk about it and try and realize the elements of (what I think is) truly good music.
